Maranao Weaving at Museo de Iligan

Iligan sits at the meeting point of Visayan migrant culture and Maranao indigenous craft from Lanao del Norte. The Museo de Iligan holds an underrated collection of Maranao okir wood carvings, brass work (agong, kulintang) and malong textiles. Weavers from Marawi can sometimes be found demonstrating at the museum annex after the 2017 Marawi siege displaced many artisans. Tip: ask the curator about the Marawi artisan reintegration project — it's a story as much as a collection.
